Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a writer, a student, a church worker, a crafter, a blogger, a twitterer, a lazy gardener, and an appalling housekeeper. I live in a sixteenth century shed in England and I am very glad that it has twenty-first century plumbing. I’m interested in almost everything except cricket and football (US and UK) and mostly I like happy endings in fiction and in real life.
What do you do when you are not writing?
Too many things! I knit, I sew, I spin, I potter in the garden, I go window shopping, and mostly I waste time on the internet. Also at the moment, I am completely glued to the TV watching all the excitement of the Olympics. The British team are doing so brilliantly.
Do you have a day job as well?
Yes, I work part time for my church and I’m also a full-time PhD student. This explains why I’m normally totally stressed from managing so many sets of deadlines. The PhD is nearly finished and that will be a big relief!
When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
I’ve always written stories but I never dreamed that anyone else would be interested in reading them. I first started posting things online about seven or eight years ago and found that people liked them. I wrote a lot of fanfiction and then gradually moved into original fiction. I guess I finished my first book three or four years ago. Something like that. I self-published two books last summer and then I signed with Entangled at the end of 2011.
How did you choose the genre you write in?
I mostly just write the kind of books I love to read, so that’s short contemporary romance. I’m all about the happy ending! I would love to start writing historical romances, too, but that takes a lot more research than I have time for at the moment.
Where do you get your ideas?
Honestly, I have no idea, but there are are always too many ideas than there is time to write them.
Do you ever experience writer’s block?
Yes. For me, it’s mostly a sign that I have too many other things going on and too much stress to deal with. Sometimes it’s because the book isn’t going the way I want it too and I really need to go back to the beginning and start again. Other times I just have to push through and write myself back into it. I find that Write Or Die is really helpful for that.
What are you working on next?
I’m working on another Indulgence – featuring a seriously sexy French footballer and a sexily serious lawyer who end up in a marriage of convenience. It’s a lot of fun.
Tell me about your experience with Entangled?
It’s been great. I first sold a Christmas short story to them back in November 2011 which was a total rollercoaster – I did five rounds of edits in three days! Then within a few weeks I’d also sold another short story and this book. Quite overwhelming. But I have great editors and it’s such a great company to work with. They really are committed to every single book they put out being the best it can possibly be, and they do so much publicity work which helps a lot. I’m so proud to have my books coming out with Entangled.
About the book
The Oil Tycoon and Her Sexy Sheikh is part of Entangled’s Indugence line of contemporary category romances.
His duty, her dreams, undone by their desire…
In the male-dominated oil industry, executive Olivia McInnes plays a careful game – she’s cold, uncompromising, and ambitious as hell. Once she seals the deal to drill in the clear waters of Saqat, she’ll finally prove herself worthy to take the reins of her father’s oil company. Her only obstacle is marine biologist – and Saqat’s royal heir – Sheih Khaled Ibm Saqat , who’s determined to protect both his people and his country from environmental devastation…
It’s not long before Olivia’s icy cool exterior is shattered by the intelligent and wickedly hot sheikh, and business is surpassed by sweet, stolen pleasures. But outside the bedroom, there’s reality to be faced. Soon Khaled must return to his obligations – and his betrothed – in Saqat.
Caught between duty and ambition, can an oil tycoon and a sexy sheikh find room for love…or will this business deal spell disaster for them both?
