Release Date: September 2009
Summary:
The Alaskan wilderness is a harsh landscape in the best of conditions, but with a pack of rogue werewolves on the loose, it’s downright deadly. Elena Michaels, the Pack’s chief enforcer, knows all too well the havoc “mutts” can wreak. When word comes of a series of humans apparently killed by wolves near Anchorage, Elena and Clay are sent to check things out. But they find more than they bargained for among the snow and trees of the savage Alaskan wilderness.
Review:
I was so glad to get back to the Otherworld, with Elena and the wolves too! Who let’s face it are our favourite supernaturals in the series. It’s Kelley at her best, throwing the story around to keep you guessing right until the end. I could never guess what was going to happen next or who the “big bad” really was.
The tenth book is set in Alaska, a change from the urban background of the others but adds so much mystery and unknown. It is beautifully written, there’s a chase scene where I was literally shivering like I was right there with Elena running and fighting from many a demon!
Elena’s husband Clay also goes along for the trip which I was, and I am sure many others were very happy with. I’ll be honest he is one of my favourite love interests and was glad to see their romance is still evolving even in the fourth Elena book.
Not all the Otherworld books are focused on the wolves but they are definitely my first love, so it was nice to see old faces pop up and also new ones. (Look out for Reece and Noah.) So hopefully this means Kelley has not done with the wolves yet!
Urban fantasy at it’s best but with plenty of old school magic that will stay with you…
