A 4 star review for a book on second chances.
Summary-
Will the past keep them apart…
High-powered attorney Luke Braden knows that perfection only comes once in a lifetime, and for him it came and went in the form of his college girlfriend, Brenna Morgan. Circumstances beyond his control separated them before, but now that she’s back in Boston, Luke won’t let her slip away again.
…or give them a second chance at love?
For Brenna Morgan, returning home is the very last thing she wants, especially when it means facing the man who once became her salvation—and then dumped her at the first sign of trouble. But Luke is determined to make up for his past mistakes, and Brenna finds herself weakening against him. A decade of deceit lies between them, and he’ll have to fight if he wants to keep his second chance at love.
Review-
What I loved about this book was that the boy was doing the chasing- not the other way around. And who doesn’t love a groveling man? Brenna Morgan returns to Boston with her ailing grandmother in tow. She grew up in Boston, went to school there, and has friends, family, and a really hot ex. Said ex being a one, Luke Braden. And right from the get go, Luke starts pursuing Brenna. In a, hey, I just came to see if you needed help kind of way. Like, right when she gets out of the car at her aunt’s house. From that moment, you kind of fall in love with Luke. At least, I did.
Of course, he’s adamant about them just being friends, it’s only a matter of time before the dynamic shifts and he wants more. It’s obvious she does too but being hurt, by him, before, Brenna is a little more cautious this time. And oh how it’s fun to watch her slowly unfold to his charm.
A second chance a love isn’t the only factor to this story. When Brenna’s grandmother’s health falters, she’s forced to deal with her estranged father who is also looking for a second chance.
Overall, this was a great story full of love, laughs, and second chances at life.

Oh yeah! And lived to regret it. You know what they say about a leopards spots, well that’s the truth in a nut shell.
I have actually. It was last year when I found out that my best friend was talking behind my back. It was after this big convention where one of my other friends asked what my bf said about her. I told her the truth because that’s what everyone deserves to hear. I didn’t plan on her confronting my bf about it and then accidently saying my name. My bf stalked around a lot after that and said crap about me. It was later on in English when I found out that she talked about me a lot and how I was boring and that I do this weird stuff and blah blah blah. Anyway, later she stood up and said she was sorry. We’re friends, but not that close anymore.
I did and the person took just enough rope to hang themselves. Eventually they just weren’t worth the trouble and I had to cut them off for my emotional sanity.
Thanks for the giveaway!
No, I’ve never been in a position where I’ve given a guy a second chance. In general, it doesn’t seem worth it; once things are over, they’re over.
Definitely, and I never should have. I’ve heard sometimes second chances work out but not in my case. In the end it ended up where me and one of my friends now no longer talk and I miss it.
oh yeah and at the end it wasn’t worth the mess *sigh* but guess with the mistakes we make we learn something.
