Darkness Before Dawn

Happy Book Birthday – Darkness Before Dawn!

Darkness Before Dawn is the first vampire series I’ve started in a long time. I was a little hesitant at first, but the premise of the story seemed to be unique and not cliché.

Darkness Before Dawn is a post apocalyptic war story where vampires take over after an all out lengthy battle with the humans.

The New World Order is established with a few cities being left. Those left are controlled by a vampire who lives outside the walls. Vampires aren’t allowed inside the walls, yet we all know nothing can keep them out. The humans have delegates who ensure the vampires are well fed and taken care of.

Dawn Montgomery is the sole survivor of her family. Shortly after her brother returned from the war, he was killed by a rogue vampire and just three months prior her parents were murdered on their way to see Lord Valentine.

Lord Valentine immediately requested that Dawn take her father’s place as delegate, something Dawn really couldn’t reject.

Needless to say, Lord Valentine is a bit odd, but I guess the vamps haven’t all adapted to the changing times. Dawn is required to dress in Victorian clothing, something she loathes. She’s also taken to his mansion by horse drawn carriage, something Lord Valentine insists upon for her protection.

One rule Dawn has always lived by is not to be caught out after dark. One fateful night finds her and best friend on a trolley with three vampires. When they are saved by a knight and shining armor, Dawn is very thankful.

Until she finds out who he is during her meeting with Lord Valentine.

With odd murders happening inside the walls, a blood shortage and a group of people fighting against Dawn’s Teen Movement – she must decide who to trust. Her faithful, yet frustrating boyfriend or the blood sucker she’s fallen in love with.

Darkness Before Dawn is out in stores today!
