PERCEPTION IS A 5 STAR READ
Sometimes sequels are just okay. PERCEPTION, the follow up to CLARITY is anything but okay . . . it’s amazing, thrilling, an absolute run out and buy and read in the same day book. Chapter one grabs you and doesn’t let go until you’re finished.
When you can see things others can’t, what happens when someone is watching you?
Everybody knows about Clarity “Clare” Fern. She’s the psychic girl in school, the one who can place her hands on something and see hidden visions from the past.
Only, Clare would rather not be a celebrity. She prefers hanging back, observing. Her gift is not a game to her.
But then someone starts playing with her head and heart. Messages and gifts from a secret admirer crop up everywhere Clare turns. Could they be from Gabriel, the gorgeous boy who gets Clare’s pulse racing? Or from Justin, Clare’s hopeful ex-boyfriend who’d do anything to win her back?
One thing is certain. Clare needs to solve this mystery, and soon. Because the messages are becoming sinister, and a girl in town has suddenly disappeared. Clare needs to see her way to the truth — before it’s much too late.
PERCEPTION takes place in sixteen days, crazy right? We find Clare living the somewhat high life with her new found celebrity status since solving the murder mystery over the summer. Now back in school, her new found popularity isn’t without consequence. Thing is, Clare sees through all the “fake” girls and keeps her wall up.
Clare is even more popular then she thought when she starts getting messages and gifts from a secret admirer. The only problem is, she’s getting a bad vibe and feels like she’s being followed, yet her psychic powers show her nothing.
And when a fairly new classmate, Sierra, goes missing and the police can’t do anything because she’s of age, Sierra’s mom turns to the Fern family for help. Clare’s only vision is of Sierra brushing her hair, but its Perry’s connection with a spirit named Ashley that confuses us all.
Determined to help, Clare asks Gabriel for access to the letter that Sierra left, and all it shows is Sierra sitting at a desk. No other clues. Starla, Clare’s mom, has asked her not to get involved, so without anything else to go on, Clare gives up . . . sort of.
Stepping up in a major way is Perry. Of course after being accused of murder over the summer that feeling has left him a bit reserve and anxious, but when his sister is in danger it is his connection to the spirit world that saves her.
PERCEPTION isn’t all about the mystery of surrounding Sierra’s disappearance; we have Gabriel and Justin both vying for Clare’s affection. You can’t help feel bad for Justin, especially after Tiffany makes a major announcement, but I’m all Team Gabriel and what he does for Clare will make your heart swoon. Author Kim Harrington does an impressive job making readers love both boys, but only one will win out in the end.
