Pushing the Limits at The Readiacs

5  STARS

“I won’t tell anyone, Echo. I promise.” Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. “You didn’t do that-did you? It was done to you?” No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

So wrong for each other…and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

WOW! That is pretty much how PUSHING THE LIMITS is summed up.

When I received PUSHING THE LIMITS my first impression was, sweet, because I really liked the cover. I think Harlequin Teen did a magnificent job. So if you are judging a book by its cover – you’ll love PUSHING THE LIMITS.

But on a serious note – you won’t be able to put it down. Author, Katie McGarry is a masterful storyteller by not only setting the scene, but putting you through the emotions of both characters, Echo and Noah.

Echo is the good girl, the one who does what she says, studies hard and never breaks curfew. But when something tragic happens, her life changes both on the inside and outside.  When she’s assigned to tutor Noah, her life changes. Now this isn’t the popular girl meets bad boy to piss off daddy, this is Echo meeting Noah, who is going to change her life.

Echo is lost. After the death of her brother and an incident that left her with literally a black hole in her brain and the need to wear long sleeved shirts, she struggles to be her old self, but not until Noah Hutchins crosses her path. He’s mean, rude and crass which turns out to be an eye opener for her.

Echo is told to face her fears and she does, when she steps foot into the cafeteria, a place she’s avoided for over six months. Much to the delight of her best friend, Lila, Echo is slowly coming out of her shell.

Can I just say, Lila is the bestest book friend ever! Never in the many pages did I feel the need to strangle or skim over her parts. Lila is so well written, she needs her own book.

Noah Hutchins got the raw deal in life. He was the freshman stud on the basketball team. Had all the hottest girls following him around school, he was the popular kid. Than tragedy struck, knocking him to his knees and throwing him into a system where kids get forgotten.

Noah is now that smoking hot nobody in the loser crowd. The guy that the girls flock to only to have their heartbroken. But when he meets Echo, he’s shown a whole new world that makes his suck even less.

Echo and Noah are the most unlikely romance, but they find a way to sizzle on the pages. This isn’t good girl defying daddy for the bad boy – this is two people finding their soulmate above all odds.

This is Noah looking at Echo like she’s the most beautiful person he’s ever seen.

I can’t rave enough about PUSHING THE LIMITS. You won’t be disappointed. It’s definitely a one day read because there is so much to tell you won’t want to wait for tomorrow.
