Summery: How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it’s getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she’s haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they’re destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.
Review: Are you a fan of the greek gods? Maybe Zeus or Poseidon? Well here’s your chance to indulge without the childlike qualities Percy Jackson! I completely enjoyed this story and it sucked me in. Helen is the typical high school girl just trying to blend into her crowd. The problem with her blending is she’s stunning; 5’9″ tall, long blond hair and a complete knock-out. The other girls hate her obviously, except for Claire, her BFF she nick named Giggles.
A new, VERY LARGE, family moves to town and take the people by awww. The boys… drop dead gorgeous. The girls… completely breathtaking. Claire knows there’s two boys available. She jokes with Helen, “there’s one for each of us!” What Helen doesn’t realize is this family moving into Nantucket will completely change her life forever. Helen does not realize what is in store for her. She knows she has super strong abilities but has hid them from everyone, even herself. Generations of war and secrets are at play and Helen thinks they are all legends. Well aren’t they? Furies, powers and a heart throb later will Helen survive to fulfill her destiny?
