Review:

I’ve never been a huge fan of “angel stories”, but “Until Next Time” was an exception. We have two separate plots, with two complex angels/people. Emily and Matt are angels in Heaven, but on Earth they are Liz and Daniel. In Heaven they are soul mates, made for each other, and destined to be by each other’s sides for all time. On Earth, they have no knowledge or memory of who they are, and each is sent down to do a job. They will come together, but they will have to come together by the choices they make, or don’t make.

I really enjoyed the dynamic play of emotions with these characters. We see them struggle with right and wrong, love and hate, knowing that they are special, but not really knowing. The reader will relate to the range of emotions that our hero and heroine face. They may be powerful beings, but they are not fully equipped with their Heavenly powers. They just know that they are different, and that they have a purpose to serve.

Another aspect I enjoyed was the saints/angels in Heaven. We’ve got Michael, Gabriel, and Mark, just to name a few. These are not the stuffy uptight saints and angels that most of us have imagined, but Heavenly creatures that understand temptation, excitement, and all the emotions that we mere mortals endure. They are Heavenly creatures that relate to humanity, even though they are above it. They extol virtue and morality without being preachy or judgmental. They struggle like any of us.

In closing, it must be noted that a plotline like this could get extremely confusing. This one was well done and easy to understand. Amy Lignor obviously thought the timeline through very carefully. I was extremely engaged in the book, and followed every single second. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something original and off the beaten path.

Synopsis:

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the ‘life’ they’ve been assigned. What they don’t realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz’s establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel’s path and a warrior’s plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that’s ripping them apart.
